The worst NFL team in football has a horrible history and some of you might say it is because they are that bad. Well the truth is that the worst NFL teams have a long standing history that goes way back into the 1976 season. Some of you might say the worst team in football is the one with the worst player, that would be one argument, but the fact is that it has been that long since the worst team in football has had a good team around them and a winning record.
The worst NFL teams have a long standing tradition of being bad, which will never change. However, that is not what makes them who they are. I just mentioned a couple of examples and let me tell you something, it is not all about who is the worst team in football. It is about who has the most total yards allowed, which team has the fewest sacks, which team has the fewest turnovers, and who has the greatest head coach. So how did we get to this point? Let me tell you.
In the Super Bowl, there was this famous quote by Joe Montana, he said, "You never know who you're going against." That is very wise advice, especially for a coach. That is what separates a good NFL team from the great NFL team. When you take the best out of the worst, you could have a very good football team and very bad, or very bad and very good. Sometimes you just don't know. That is why you have to keep your eye on the draft, because sometimes the worst NFL teams can turn into great NFL teams just by taking a little bit of time and building chemistry.
The worst teams in football last 10 years went to the Super Bowl and this is the main reason people love to root for the worst NFL teams. Remember when the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers were the worst NFL teams ever and they came so close to winning the Super Bowl? I am telling you, that is the beauty of the NFL. One bad game and you can kiss it goodbye, it's not like the Boston Tea Party where you can't vote out of office.
So if the worst NFL teams have a bright future, how come the Cleveland Browns are on top of the world right now. Well I tell you, they didn't even win their last three games. Yes they have a very good young quarterback in Brian Brady, but he only played well in relief situations. The Browns new head coach, Rob Chudzinski, has a lot to prove in the second year of his career with this franchise.
He inherits a bad situation, a porous offensive line, and no proven receivers to throw the ball to. So the question remains, can the Cleveland Browns turn it around and make a run through the playoffs as the worst NFL team? Remember, last year they barely scraped by in the playoffs, finishing fifth. This year things could be different and they could end up in the playoffs as the favorite in the division.
The New York Jets are another team that many people are anxious to see play in the worst NFL season in 20 years. Last year they made the decision to fire the head coach, Eric Mangini, and bring in Joe Namath to help fix the defense. They also signed Michael Vick to a huge contract and brought in Rex Grossman, who was a great player for the New York Giants. Now the question arises, can the New York Jets turn it around and win the games that they're in need of win in order to move into the playoffs? Many experts believe that this team will definitely be in the top two, or three, and maybe even the Super Bowl.
As the worst NFL team makes its way through the final stretch of the 2021 season the predictions are becoming more accurate. If you think that the New York Jets will go into the playoffs as the NFC East champions, and beat the defending champion Dallas Cowboys in their home stadium, you have your eye on something very special. Then you may want to make some money by predicting that the New York Giants will lose to the hated Pittsburgh Steelers in what is considered one of the most boring Super Bowls ever.
